If you really want to have the lowest auto insurance premiums possible you’ve got to not only shop around, but you’ve also got to have the right vehicle. Insure.com has compiled a list of the least expensive vehicles to insure in 2013 with the help of Quadrant Information ServicesĀ and the list might surprise you.
In the past minivans were the least expensive vehicles to insure, but for 2013 crossovers and SUV’s are at the top of the list (and nearly every spot in the top 20). It turns out that many families have replaced minivans with crossovers and SUVs so the crash statistics that kept minivans so low to insure have shifted over to crossovers and SUVs. Less crashes mean lower repair bills and lower premiums for all.
If you are researching auto insurance in anticipation of buying a new vehicle, you might want to check this list first as there could be additional savings by selecting the right vehicle. Soon we’ll post the most expensive vehicles to insure in 2013. Though if you are buying any of the cars on that list you already know the insurance will be expensive!
